ST COLUMBAN'S College 2012 graduate Evania Pelite - GOLD for Australia from McCarthy-Wood on Vimeo.

Quiet achiever and St Columban’s College, Caboolture 2012 alumni, Evania Pelite has been instrumental in bringing home gold from the Rio Olympics.

The 21-year-old youngest member of the Australian women’s rugby sevens team scored a game-changing try the moment she came into the match from the bench, and just after the halftime horn blew. This put the Australian team into the lead going into the second-half with a score of 10-5.

The game concluded in bringing home a gold medal as Ms Pelite and the rugby sevens team secured a 24-17 victory over New Zealand.

Principal of St Columban’s College, Caboolture, Ann Rebgetz reflected on how the college community had surrounded Ms Pelite and supported her as she grew both academically and athletically.

“This is a great example of the college Mentor Academy Program realising the true potential in a student,” Ms Rebgetz said. “The motto of St Columban’s College, Caboolture is ‘Every Student Every Success‘ and we do everything possible to ensure this.”
